Not sure if that's the right term for it. Picture below to be clear what I am talking about. I think the silver shifter cover piece looks a little tacky but even worse it reflects sun light more than anything else in my car. It makes it hard to see when sun comes in through the windshield. Anyone know of a good place to buy replacements for this that look nice and don't blast sun into your eye? I find it hard to believe others don't have this issue unless I have some non-standard issue cover.

See the picture.. the silver piece all around the shifter.

Hi,
Did you ever figure anything out for the shifter trim? I have the exact same concerns.
I am picking up my new 08 528i and it has a multi-color interior. I want to get rid of the silver shifter trim and silver on the 3-spoke steering wheel and replace it with Burr Walnut to match the rest of the car. Or even black would be better. This would leave the door handles silver...but I am not sure if I am up for changing those out? ;-)
Let me know...
Cheers

not sure about the shifter trim but I think NVD does sell the carbon fiber ones for the trim and the side of the airbag on the steering wheel. Check out the NVD's thread in the vendor section.

I can't speak for the LCI models but I hit the dealership up last week for a new shift boot trim piece (just the plastic plate, does not include leather boot) on my pre-LCI and they were able to order it in a black matte finish. It was $130 or $170 or $190 or something with my discount- i forget exactly but it was stoopid expensive even at wholesale. If you are not an OEM fanatic, you could always spray it or wrap it. Good luck.
