Is it possible ?
So we could read DVD-mp3 without eject the map DVD ...
A pair of years ago on my XBOX I changed the standard DVD player with another, but on a site there was a guide ...
Ideas ?

I suppose it's worth a try. You might have to do some surgery to make the right connections, etc. but if it works, this would be a great modification.

But if they are standard IDE/ATAPI drives (even though the car may not use an IDE interface), wouldn't they look the same to the car?
Maybe I'm way off here -- someone with some better PC hardware knowledge please jump in...

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ..... But replace the CD drive with the DVD drive of the iDrive ?
The same drive of the original DVD of the iDrive ..

Fred, but it's not possible to mount another DVD drive, like that that Idrive already has ?
BMW sells only the DVD drive ?

First of all, let's think about computer basic:
When you install a new CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, you'll need software driver for it or at least it's a plug-and-play.
We don't have DVD software driver or not sure if DVD driver is plug-and-play. Therefore, we are hosed
