Default Removing vinyl resedue?

I had my vinyl roof installed last year and I wasn't happy with how it looked. The installer did a terrible job and had scratched it all up on the install. I decided to rip it off earlier this week. It was a bitch to remove first of all, and left a ton of grey resedue which is very hard to get off. I've been using goo gone and a microfiber cloth but it kills my wrists and takes forever. Is there a product or better alternative that I could look at? Perhaps using my polisher? I don't want to damage the paint, from what I read goo gone is safe but not that effective.

Have you tried letting your car sit in the sun first to warm up the adhesive and then use the goo gone with microfiber cloth? Warming up adhesive residue tends to make it easier to remove using goo gone in my experience.

Discovered 3m adhesive remover at the store after reading about it. It worked wonders, spray it on and let it sit and it wipes right off. I'm impressed.

what type of vinyl did your installer use? we just pulled off the 3M vinyl that was covering my entire car matte grey and had ZERO residue anywhere on the car...im sorry to hear you had to go through that man :/

It was oracl vinyl, it was supposed to be easy to remove. The car was sitting in the sun before removing but still left a ton of resedue behind. I got 90% of it off now but around the edges its very tough to remove.

i see, i have had issues removing oracal in the past. one trick i have used is heating the material first with the heat gun and then peeling the material very slowly...

my current set up is with Matte Red Metallic oracal so in a year (six months knowing me) ill end up taking it off again to do something new lol
