Removing Tint?
#1
Anyone have experience removing window tint? I had my 545 tinted with 5%. The "reputable" shop did a bad job and now won't do anything about it. I found another shop with lots of good recommendations, but they won't remove the old tint for me.
Doesnt seem like it would be too tough. Any tips or advice?

DO NOT USE RAZORS ON THE REAR WINDSHIELD!!!!!!!
I cannot stress that point enough. You will take off the defroster lines.
Removing tint is a BITCH. I have had to do it twice. It took hours, by myself. And I only had to do the front windshield, which is much easier than the rear.
I am surprised that the tint shop will not remove it, for a price. They normally should have experience doing the work.... and be willing to charge you to do it.

Normally tint shops can remove them for you. I would guess this tint shop you went to had a bad experience with removing tints with previous customers and they don't want to deal with the problems anymore. Customers will get real pist if the shop screws up the back defrosters. They are not cheap to replace.
I had mine removed many times in the past. I go to this tint shop near my house and I paid $75. It's funny how a lot of shops will tell you over the phone that it will take half the day to remove and would try charging you around $150-$175. Believe me these pros can do it in about an hour, clean up and all. Twice now I've stayed in the shop and watch them do it. But of course it's not about the time limit, you want them to do a good job, but negotiate on a good fair price.
Good Luck.

I think I'll probably do it myself. Im so afraid of leaving scratches all over the windows (from the razor blades). I am not even going to attempt the rear window because of the defrost. Thanks for all of your responses!
