Does anyone know if this center piece can be removed easily. Its all jacked up and i wanted to take it off to repair it or cover it up. I wonder if it just clipped on???

not sure if you could just take the center piece off, but why not just remove the entire shift knob, I am sure a skilled person can still refinish the chrome piece while protecting the surrounding leather.....

that CF interior is looking nice Al

which piece? the CF trim? or the piece by the leather?

If by the leather shift boot, just pull up and it clips off. all by clips. =)

It's been a long time since I had the e60, but I remember I had to pop EVERYTHING out to get to the shift center console. I don't remember why, but it wasn't too hard. Next time you are at a meet, I can do it for ya! haha

Sorry for the confusion, I'm talking about the little silver plastic piece on the shifter. It just pops right off??

Yea the plastic silver thing with the leather boot for the shifter? That entire piece will pop right out. You can use a flat head screw driver with a towel (to prevent scratching) if you are having trouble.

It might easier to remove the shift knob first and than the leather boot. To remove the shift knob, just pull hard... and be careful not to hit yourself in the face... (like I did lol)

Oh... not sure about that. Seems like one piece. If you want to take out the shift knob, just pop out the boot part, and then unclick this one position to pull the shift knob up.
