Earlier this year I purchased the OEM rear deck spoiler for my 2005 545i prepainted in my silver gray metallic body color. I thought I would have it installed at the first service. BMW of SF said they do not do that kind of work and sent me to their body shop. The body shop said that they had only installed the "lip" spoiler from the M5 and would not try my spoiler. Why does BMW sell accessories that they can't/won't install? I suppose I can try other dealers.

Not sure how this reply works. I purchased a BMW spoiler for my 2004 545i from BMW in Santa Maria, Ca. They farmed out the installation work to a body shop at a local Chevrolet/Cadillac dealer; Home Motors. The body shop did the installation, including painting the spoiler. The paint job was acceptable, but the adhesive used to mount the spoiler to the trunk starting pulling apart from the trunk lid. I returned the car to Home Motors who were willing to make it good, but I chose to hold BMW responsible for the installation. BMW Santa Maria supposedly ordered the correct adhesive and will install it again this week. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Should add that the spoiler doesn't lie flush to the trunk lid. It has to bent slightly and held in place with tape during the ahesion process. Fact is, it doesn't appear that the spoiler is a good fit for that car.

I bet that Darwin at Carlab can do the spoiler installation for you, they have done quite a few OEM and custom installation at their shop. You should give them a shout http://www.carlabms.com/contact.html
