Rear Entertainment Options for US
#1
What can I put in the rear seat area to lure my 2 children out of my wife's Odyssey minivan? They prefer her van over the 5, guess I can't blame them since they can't watch Sesame Street or Shrek 2 in mine...

I think you have to get DVD with the "Individual" package, but that's not available in the US.

I think BMW will have a DVD retrofit kit. Not available yet, and I'm sure it's expensive.

Waiting to get a 535d Sport with individual and all the extras...
I decided that the best option was to buy something portable and mountable - that way the kid / wife gets entertainment on demand but as I am in the car 90% alone I can remove, stow, and be ?000s cheaper. The rear ent package (1 monitor DVD changer) for the 7 series is circe ? 2250. I bought a 7" LCD TV, Seperate Portable DVD / DivX / Mp3 Player and all necessary cables and mounting kits for ?250.00
May not look as neat but at the end of the day I'm never gonna be in the back

We have a portable DVD player that comes in a case like a laptop. It includes straps so that the player is hung between the two front seats for the kids to watch in the back. Can use the internal speaker or if the sounds of Nemo drive you crazy, plug in two headphones. Has reasonable battery or plugs into the lighter for power. 9 inch screen isw excellent quality. I'll have to look at home, but I think it is a Panasonic. The portability is nice because we take it on the airplane for our trips overseas, though the newer planes have the screen in the seatback...

This is an official accessorie for the E60 and I think it is available for USA too, but I'm not sure.
My dealer has installed a couple allready, but that's in Germany of course.

The DVD unit offered by BMW is somewhat bulky. You can get a a much slimer DVD now for much less $$$.
Instead of overhead flip down style DVD's, I would prefer to buy a tablet style DVD and mounted on the center arm rest. This way, you can remove it when not neeed it.
