I searched the forum with the above title but could not find anything under that subject. What is your thoughts about re-conditioned OEM wheels? There is a company that specializes in re-conditioned wheels and have most of BMW's wheels for a good price ~$1400 for a set of M5 M166.

Is it safe to use a re-conditioned wheels on our E60s? I've heard many guys on the forum repaired there wheels from miner bends and had no issues.

$1400? Thats pretty pricey for reconditioned wheels. $200 and you can get a brand new set shipped to you I'm sure.

Yep, they jacked all OEM wheel prices 30% as of like June 15th this year. Either way, brand-new OEM 166's will run you about $1800 from Garry at Newport BMW.

I agree that is pricey for reconditioned original equipment wheels. Major problem I see is you wouldn't know if it was s simple curb rash refinish or a totally trashed wheel that they started with. Most minor damage can be straightened out or refinished but the latter would leave me curious.

If that's the case, I'd hunt down a clean used set so you know what you're operating with and have them refinished locally - there probably are many reputable shops within 100 miles of your home who can handle the task. And you might actually save some money!

OP - I guess the other guy didn't respond to your PMs. In any case, I wouldn't buy these refurbished wheels since you never know what happened with them before.

Check out BMWWheels.com, I just ordered brand new set for ~$1800 shipped. I checked out Gary at Newport and even with the 25% discount they wanted over $2100 before shipping. Definitely shop around, I also looked at the reconditioned ones but figured for an extra $300 why not get new ones..

More times than not reconditioned wheels are ok, but definitely not worth the risk if its a difference of 1400 vs 1800. Extra 400 is not a lot to pay for a piece of mind.
