Currently i have a 2005 530i Sport Package and I really want the CD player to read MP3's. Do I have to change the whole CD player or is there something i can buy to make that happen. Thanks in advance!

If you have Navi, you also have Mp3 capability in the center console unit, otherwise you have to replace the unit.
Why don't you retrofit the Aux-Input for cheap and play mp3s from there with any Mp3 stick?

Don't we have to coding for mp3 aux-input?
I thought installing aux-cable cost alot. Am I wrong?
I really need aux cable but I am afraid about the costs.
Please let us know if you have the cheapest way.

Same here. No nav. But MP3 capable. Build date, March 07.

This was also true on my previous E60. Build date, September, 04.

No titles on screen, no
After retrofitting there will be an Aux-In selection in Idrive menu that transfers the audio signal of the Mp3 stick to the stereo amplifier.

Thanks! its the Msport air ducts painted in red.

Did you have MD or CD magazine on your 04 model?
Not 100% sure, but I think on 04-05 US/EU models there was not available that option (mp3 capability without having radio professional which was available only with Nav equipped cars)
