Hey guys. Don't have the extened factory warranty, but i do have the extended maintenance warranty. Had my car in last week for minor scheduled stuff and they told me that my ac and alternator belts were beginning to crack. They said it was not a must do right now but I should replace them soon. They quoted me $300. I am wondering if anyone has tips on where I can buy the Genuine parts for a cheaper price (from a reputable retailer) and them have them installed by a local BMW mechanic and not spend the $100/hr in labor cost. Or if it is an easy thing I could do? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chad
by the way never got my Autowerks parts.... They just stole my money... Bummer

Belts are generally very easy to replace. I've done them on all my cars and my kids cars and it is not at all difficult to do. Like most things, a little patience, a service manual if available, and/or searching the web for the proper procedure can yield good results. If you can get the old belt off, go buy a replacement and put it on yourself.

sorry i am new. My car is a 2004 530i mileage: 73,3xx. I am in Jacksonville FL. Are the belts really supposed to be covered under my extended maintenance warranty?

Since you have the extended maintenance which is good for 100k miles yes the belts should be covered. My brothers 3 series had 98,000 miles with extended maintenance and all drive belts were replaced for free.
Thanks,
Chad
