Im doing the full CIC upgrade shortly.
As part of this we swap in the new molding/cover for the AC controls.
If you have pre-lci (like me) it leaves gaps unless you replace the controller (no) or at least the controller buttons (yes).

Looking for some help on how to get this done right.

From what Ive seen in my research, the new buttons are as such:

http://www.ecstuning.com/ES2145074/

Problem I see is these are full caps & not buttons. The pre LCI has simple button replacements (basically the top portion of these caps).
If I buy these can I swap them into my Pre LCI set up without a lot of superglue & prying? or is there a better way???

you need to replace the entire sets. Also once done, you need to either enlarge the holes for the LEDs in the button panels (what I did) or move the LEDs on the PCB (what BenAnd did)

Or you can make your own cover who fits pre-LCI climate control panel and CIC navigation as i did

This also prevents the climate panel displays incorrect symbols.

Bruce & Alpina:

Thank you both for your reply.

Bruce: Do you have more detail on how to do what you described? is there a link I can reference (Ive been looking but havent found anything that captures my question).
I do know that people do it, I think you suggested it to me prior (thanks). Is the link Ive shown for the correct starting point on replacement caps?
Any additional detail will help as I dont want to swap for the new controller.

Alpina: Also an interesting solution. How did you do this? You did the full CIC upgrade & carved out your own panel trim for the AC Climate Control? (maybe using the prior trim piece?).
Please fill us in on how you did that. It looks great BTW.

I made ??it myself with several different covers and then plastic welded them afterwards and made a lot of finish work. It is time consuming and a lot of work to get it good, but of course it is just to try.
