I've managed almost 25K on my Conti's and it's time to order a new set of tires. I've been planning to buy the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics, based on the tests and reviews on tirerack.com, but I thought I'd ask for any anecdotal comments here as well. The one thing that seems to be a relatively frequent complaint is noise. I'm not interested in accolades and recommendations for other tires -- everyone has their favorites -- I'm just looking for input on the F1's.
Thanks,
Cal

Noise was never a problem for me except when I really scalloped the edges on track. They cleaned up and got back to their normal quiet in a week. They don't wear very long, but no worse than the OEM Contis. You have to make sure and keep them properly inflated for max life.

Cal, I don't have any experience with the Goodyear's you are considering. I would, however, highly recommend trying Hankook V12 Evo's. They rated very well in a recent Car and Driver tire comparo, in fact they actually out performed Michelin PS2's in almost every aspect of the test, including laptimes. Here is a link to the tire comparison. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/compar...v12_evo_page_10
I had the Hankook V12 Evo's in the 20" size and was very impressed. The bonus is that they're dirt cheap.

Didn't have the Eagle F1 Assymetrics but I did have a set of Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires on my 545 and my 550 and it's one of the best tires I've ever bought. The Assymetrics are testing as well if not better than the GS-D3, so they're probably going to be a very good tire choice for you.

Current set is F1 Asymmetrics (drove about 7k miles this spring/summer) ... previous two sets were F1 GS-D3 .. between the two, I still like the GS-D3 much more ... for the reason of great wet weather grip and better cornering & steer feel. I would estimate the Asymmetrics should last about 20K miles, if driven a bit more conservative manner.
