I sheduled an engine remap next month (chiptuning), but i found a powerbox in a shop where i have bought before
http://www.individual-cars.com/xshop/produ...-E60---E61.html

but i'm not sure how this thing works yet and i wonder if its bad for the engine or maybe not "bad" but the remapping seems more safe to me.
the engine remapping costs 700 euros and i can get this power box for 350 euro (in terms of wasting time on the remap while i could be working etc).
does anyone have experience with these things? the kit doesnt seem to be a simple resistor box or whatever but i wonder how the data card on it would work.
i'm currently waiting for a reply from individual-cars about the brand and technical information of the box.

any advice please

there are a few topics on this argument, its horses for courses im afraid.
the basic difference apart from price is

chip "box".is plug and play, almost one size fits all, and does not take into consideration any engine weaknesses or problems, and (in my oppinion only) could cause engine damage by altering the air/fueling.

the "re-map" is specific to your car, and will only take the curve to enhance the fuel/air ratios, and keep within safe peramiters, its much more "addaptable" and can be adjusted/tweeked to fine tune your car
the box cannot be fine tuned, and if its set up wrong...then BANG/POP
i would not trust my M57 engine to chance however small.
you get what you pay for in this game.

but it is personal choice.
i have also heard good things about box units, but not for me im afraid.
