I know alot of you were asking how I hardwired my V1 in my new baby. First, I followed the directions on here (http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=708) 1/2 way down you will see the directions. These directions were perfect!! However, I had to splice one of the wires because the cable that was included with the V1 was cutting in and out. I did install a consealed display also. The way that all of this is wired so when you shut the car off, everything goes off. The V1 is mounted on the rightside of the mirror with my EZ-Pass on the left side of the mirror. Now for the Consealed Display. I was debating where to mount this and after going back and forth, I decided to mount it in the lower left hand corner of the windshield next to the HUD. This is the PERFECT spot I believe for a few reasons. 1) It's directly in your line of vision 2) It's hidden behind both the A Pillar and Behind Inspection/Registration Stickers and 3) Looks stealthy. I have posted a picture of what the consealed display looks like when it goes off. The consealed display does NOT make any noise, it just lights up...all the noise comes from the V1 itself; which is a mind trick! When you turn on the V1, both the V1 and the CD will read out the same thing and then the V1 goes black, this is normal don't panic. Also, check to make sure that whichever mode you have on the V1 is on the screen on the CD! During this entire time, the V1 looks like it is off but everything is being transfered to the consealed display. The time delay is virtually the same as just having the V1 plug in all on its own. The V1 and consealed display connect through a small unit that is given when you buy the V1 which can fit in the overhead lighting area where you doing all of your wiring. V1 gives you some adhesive tape to use, but it doesnt stick to the dash, so I basically just wedged it in the corner! I hope this answers alot of questions about my install!!! Enjoy the photos!

is radar dectector ever works? my impression is "they never stop beeping" which 90% of time are false alarms.

Looks nice. On my wife's car, the V1 itself is in the same location, but the remote is in the ashtray. It is easy to hit mute in that location, and she can close the ashtray cover when parking for an extra measure of concealment.

The V1 is the best out there, so 90% of the time its dead on. The other 10%, the cops don't have anything on!

All radar detectors false. This is just part of the deal.

However, the Valentine 1 provides the driver with a few ways to distinguish a false from the real thing:

1. Radar band - There are various bands of radar which will be encountered on a daily drive. X band, K band, Ka band, and laser is slowly becoming more common. Police radar tends to be in the Ka band. Grocery store doors are almost always in the X band. So.... when I am driving, and the V1 chirps, I just check the band and if it says X or K, I keep driving. If it's Ka, I know to slow down.

2. Arrows - The Valentine 1 not only displays the type of radar being detected... but also shows the direction the signal is coming from. This feature, which is patented, is extremely useful in helping to identify a false alarm. Police radars tend to fall in the Ka Band, and have very distinct direction of origin. A false alarm will tend to have a more diffuse signal, which hops around from in front to the side or back.

Bottom line..... When my Valentine 1 chirps, I can glance at the screen and tell you in less than one second if the threat is real or not. And I will be about 99% accurate.

I was thinking that also, but when im doing 90 or 100, I don't want to look down or anywhere else. Besides, I hit the mute button on the V1 to silence it haha
