We painted my buddies grille black on his 750i with matte black used to paint engines and using a couple different sand papers .I beleive grade 60 to remove chrome and 240 to polish. And ive bought the retail matte black grills for a different BMW, Cant really notice a difference. except the purchased ones are around a hundred dollars or more shipped and the sand paper and paint is somehting like $25. Basically you can easily get the same result if you have a couple hours to spend instead of money.

Really? You'd go to all that trouble to save about $70 ? That's what mine cost on ebay.
