My Ride: '05 530i Silver Grey , black interior. Premium Package, Satellite Radio, Adaptive Xenon Headlights, alpine 500amp pushing 12" alpine sub in the trunk, MTech pedals, 30% tint.

New to the BMW world. Have had a Benz for years and just purchased an 05 530i to replace my e320.
I have been looking for some upgrades to get some more HP. Any suggestions? Chip? cold air intake? Etc......

Thanks.

Welcome aboard, atthecopa !

I would chip it for more HP.
You can also add a cold air intake, racing air filter or sports exhaust, but I think the most HP increase you'll get with chip tuning.

Chips don't do much for non-turbo cars these days...especially with BMW which does a very good job of tuning the engine. Waste of money, IMO. Exhaust will typically give you a little HP but at the expense of torque, which is most important. I wouldn't mess with mods on the e60. Trade it in for a 545 or 535 if you want more power.

If you need power for the 530, you are much better off by unload the 530 and get a 545. With chips, you are just throwing good money away on the bimmers. in short, I wouldn't mess w/ it.

good luck,

I paid about US$ 1,380.00 for an UNICHIP pigback module. After we run a Dyno test and the HP was gone to:

2005 E46 330i Motorsport SMG 267.33 bhp
2005 E60 545i Steptronic 375.62 bhp

The torque gain was amazing!

Chears,

Two other chip tuning outfits are showing about 9-10 percent gains in HP and torque doing ECU remaps. One being Wetterauer that Iceman mentioned. Not familiar with the piggy back style and what they typically offer but would expect them to be no less than the remaps. Plus each car will be slightly different. You can only go by what the dyno tells you. Plus he is in Rio, and everything's better in Rio, sim rapaz.

Sorry about that but I don't smoke

I have the dyno results printed here! It was a hard work to get this set up and only works with a high performance gas (Petrobras Podium) and right atm conditions.

Otherwise, please check the site from Dastek - South Africa

Luck yours we are so far.
