Hey guys,
I'm thinking about placing a performance chip in my car, but I do not really know too much about them. I was able to find this on the internet http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/BMW/5-Series/ it claims about 50 HP; does anyone know about this product? Is it just for 535's ??? The install instructions seem pretty easy. Also, I've noticed a lot of members have chips and wonder how they worked out for you and which one you purchased. Can you really feel the power increase? Do you remove them before service, etc. I'm sure there are a lot of FAKE\worthless products which I want to avoid. Any help would be great.
I think I posted this in the wrong area before.

Also, does anyone know where in South Florida I can get a program upgrade, etc and roughly what I would have to pay? Something that isn't detectable by the dealership is better.

There is no "Chip" that can add 50 HP to the 550i.
For example, if Dinan is to be believed, if you install all of their engine mods for the 550 (Stage 3 ECU reflash, high flow intake system, high flow throttle body), you gain 30 bhp and a mere 14 lbs-ft of torque: http://www.dinancars.com/store/product.php...=522&page=1.
By contrast, the full suite of Dinan engine mods for the 535 (ECU reflash plus free flow exhaust) result in a claimed gain of 84 bhp and 121 lbs-ft of torque: http://www.dinancars.com/store/product.php...=768&page=1

For $6300 I'll just get some new wheels\tires, upgrade my eyes and save some cash.

For $6300 I'll just sell my car take that cash and get an M5. Other than that Dinan mods are too pricey to be worth a damn.

Of course, that is not the case for the Dinan mods to the 535 which are cheaper and result in massive power gains that make the car faster than a 550.

Well if you want to make a big upgrade but can't yet swing the cash for the M5, you could assume my 550's lease.
Thanks Scott, but I'll wait a little bit and trade in my car for the M - it might not be a new one, but it WILL be MINE!!!!

If I can ever find a member willing to do a straight lease assumption I would do so because I would like to move to the M5.
