Hey team,
I've been looking in to purchasing new wheels for the 08 535i. This research has somewhat discouraged me from pursuing this course of action. The combo of new OEM wheels/tires is INCREDIBLY expensive. I do like the 18" sport wheels that came on my 535 so i've been looking in to having them painted. Not black, but darkened, almost a matte black/grey. I threw this together in illustrator just now. What do you guys think, too much? Thanks for the feedback.

I'm thinking it looks too much like brake dust ... don't wash your wheels for a few weeks and they'll look just like that! I like the hyper-silver look myself. That adds some "depth" to the original and other styled wheels and powder coat makes the finish more durable.

The replica M5 rims I have are 'hyper silver' which is a slight hue darker than the stock, but not quite gunmetal - and I really like it. Still maintains a stock look but is closer in finish to the trim on my sport wheel.

I love it! For real, I think that looks dope. I have already paid to have my wheels powder coated, but just need to make the appointment.

I would go for it.

I rather paint it than waste money on powder coating the stock rims. For the cost of powder coat and selling the stock here or on Craigslist, you probably can get a new set of VB3. I painted my Miro black then switched to gunmetal and it has lasted pretty well so far.

I wonder if anyone has done this custom paint/powdercoat job to their 124s? https://5series.net/forums/topic/117...shoes-finally/

Curious to see how it would look. Anyone here a wizard with photoshop?
