Painted Brakes

Need a quick education on painting brakes. I've seen several on the forum. I have a white 550i, and I'm thinking about having my brakes done in red or white. White might get to dirty from brake dust, so I'm leaning towards red. Will have the guy who is doing the other body work do it. What's involved? What type of paint? How long does the paint last?
