I'm trying to piece together a set of 172s and in the process noticed that one of the wheels I have is a different looking finish then the other. The lighter one should be the real OEM color and the other one is darker. This picture exaggerates the different due to lighting, but to the trained eye there is a different in shade between the 2. These are both OEM rims.

So, what are my options? Is it expensive to get the darker one redone? Is that what they call powder coating?

Thanks for your help.

This might be a more accurate picture (though I think it slightly under-emphasizes the difference). Am I being too picky?

I would just have them all powder coated to avoid any issues. Graphite would look nice

One is a little darker for sure. If it bothers you, then you should definitely consider powdercoating them whatever color of your choice.

Are they both front or rear wheels? If so, then it's not a big deal since they won't be seen side by side like that once they are mounted.

Good pt. They are both rears. When I put them perpendicular to the ground (the way they will eventually be mounted) it's really hard to tell the difference. I may still see what it takes to get them coated.

If you're asking, it's going to bother you. It'll be a lot easier to deal with now.

Let the brake dust build up for a while - then they will match.
