Not sure how to title this, but my interest is a conversation over your strategy concerning the money spent on your car and the length of ownership of that car and its resale value.

How long do most of you own or plan on owning your 5'r? 3 yrs, 4 yrs? I see some of you spending thousands of dollars on upgrades. I understand the reason for it, but I question the future value of the car. What is the experience selling a modified car? When I heavily modified a sportbike I had, I ended up parting some of it out prior to selling it and converting it back closer to stock. It wasnt bone stock at that point (hard to convert a big bore kit back to stock) but I sold it as stock. The resale was actually hurt by the mods.

If you have money to throw away and have fun, well this topic isnt for you. But those with actual budgets, thoughts?

thx

Part it out is my option (if you have good condition stock parts sitting around).

Dealers will give you pennies for your upgrades.

+1 I agree. I have kept all the stock stuff so that if I sell it, it will be close to stock.

Either part out the car, OR, you sell the car privately to an enthusiast that understands and appreciates what was done to the vehicle. The latter will take more time to sell.

Personally I plan on keeping my car for awhile and getting my money worth out of the vehicle. I had a nicely modified Audi A4 before which I only kept for a little over a year. In hind sight I should have just kept it after spending all that money. So My plans with my five are to at least keep it until it's fully paid off and then some. Then I can get a nice F10.
