ok so im sure a few of you know my story, and im not responsible for this!

im thinking of modding soon but theres a little thing i must take care of first...

my 2004 530i is at 104k and ill admit its not in the best condition and its been running on 87 octane for a good 100k of those miles (91 while i had it) and well, she feels a little sluggish, hesitates on accel. and just isnt doing her best...

so im thinking, i have plans to boost this car in the future and i dont want her dieing on me, i know for fact this car should go 250k+ easy...

so should i have my cars engine rebuilt? maybe even throw in a couple better parts (do m54b30 engine have internal upgrades???) and get it ported and reinforced while im doing work down there

if not, any reasons why?

if so, know any good places and where to go (note i have plans to force induct this car in the future)

I am in the engine rebuilding business myself, and I can't see any reason why you should not rebuild the engine to original OEM specification. Just make sure that the guys that rebuild it, belongs to the AERA (American Engine Rebuilding Association). They have a code of conduct and all their members should conform to exacting industry standards.

with 100k on the clock, have you replaced O2 sensors, MAF sensor? those are wear items and they can make the car feel very sluggish. These engines do not need rebuilding at 100K unless you've done something really, really stupid.

try seafoam before you going the rebuild route, i haven't heard much people on here using it but on e46fanatics.com tons of e46er's used it on there aged cars and claim huge differences after. do a search in google about it, I have only ever read good things about the stuff, and are even youtube videos of guys using it.
