OEM 166 Wheels & 12mm Spacer Issue?

Fender Damage under Maximum compression?

So I've now got my great new OEM 166's Wheels with 245/35/19 Front & 275/30/19 Back and 12mm Eibach Pro Spacer installed and they look awesome (I'll post pics later)

I was out driving on the freeway earlier and hit a small dip in the road just after a bridge joint on the freeway. I was moving pretty quickly and the back of the vehicle sank under compression (Stock Sports Suspension) after I hit the dip, I heard what sounded like the vehicle bottoming out. I cra**ed my pants and got off the freeway ASAP there wasn't any damage that I could see but my worst fear was that the tire had hit the bottom of the rear wheel arch just above the tire due to the fact that the tire sticks out a tiny bit further than the wheel well width due to the 12mm spacer. How much play should the wheel have under compression, there's a good 1 1/4" between the top of the tire and the bottom of the wheel arch, what do you guys think? Am I just being paranoid? or is there a potential problem here? Maybe I should just drive slower! Or maybe I should just take the spacers off.

Thanks

If they are 19"s I am sure it did not hit however I always tell all my buddies not to drive over bad quality roads and bumps at high speeds as you never know when become exception from the rule, but best luck to you, go and check it with the dealership-so you can be calm.

It did it again last night, it only seems to do it on one side maybe I have a bad shock on that side?

I've taken the spacers off for the time being, until I figure it out.

Thanks

Slower!!! Are you insane!! HaHa

Now I've taken the spacers off there's apears to be no issue and I can now burn around as fast as I like without worring about my fenders popping off at 65mph on the freeway Woo Hoo!!!!

I am always a believer that most of our cars are the same. When one thing happens to one of us, but not the others, it is usually human error (and not your error). There could have been an installation error with the spring, etc.

I have 20mm spacers with non-sport. The non-sport makes a difference (as I started with more spacing in the wheel well), but I am sure that I would have some bad experience if there were a spacer problem.

Before you take off your spacers, please check the springs again with another wheel place. It would be a shame to have to sacrifice the nice looks for a careless technician who made a mistake with the installation of your springs.

Good Point!

I think it's probably a sport suspension thing, I'll get the springs checked out, is there anyone else on the forum that has a 550i with the OEM sports suspension and the spacers that you know of ?

I personally think the aethetics are just fine without the spacers, but that's just me.

Thanks
