Is $1500 for a set of used OEM style 166 wheels a good deal? two of the wheels have light curb rash, but I plan to get them powder coated and it can be sanded down.

~$2400 is the BNIB price from a dealer that provides a discounted price to members here....

pics would help your sale....

I think he's thinking about buying the wheels, not selling them.

Picture would help us confirm if they are indeed OEM or not though.

The 1500 price tag is pretty fair though.

I've seen them go for around $1,600 with good condition tires. If the wheels you are looking at comes with tires then that's a great deal. If not, decent deal but you might be able to find cheaper.

What Gene implied was to give you an idea what a (rand (N)ew (I)n (ox set of 166's are currently going for; from a reputable vendor no less, here on the forum.

If the curb rashes are light as you say they are then $1500 is a smoking deal

$1500 is an awesome deal! If you post where you found them at, I bet they will be gone in a heart beat.

I agree. $1500 is a pretty good deal. Especially if the scratches are light.

For any SoCal-ers there was a set of OEM 166 (M5 offset) with OEM tires with 5k miles on them for $1,600 on craigslist. He had it for sale for a while and dropped the price over time from $2,000 to $1,600. Not sure if they sold yet though.

You must be referring to my feeler thread on my 166's with tires. That was a 1 time, priced to sell quick - feeler, but unfortunately the other wheels I wanted sold before I had anything finalized.

I don't think a similar deal would be easy to find though.

The deal you found sounds pretty reasonable @ 1500.

FYI there was a member in San Jose I think that is selling his newly gunmetal/black powdercoated 166's with tires. I think he wanted something like 2400. Don't remember the condition of the tires, but that price MAY be comparable or even cheaper than the set you found after everything is said and done.

1500 + 400 (repair/powdercoat, low quote) + 700 new tires = 2600

Just a little food for thought.

Quick Reply: OEM 166 good deal?
