Has anyone installed mud flaps or the sunroof shield/deflector? We get quite a bit of rain here in Atlanta and it seems that mud flaps would help keep the sides of the car cleaner plus help protect from rocks or debris from hitting the side.
This is the sunroof deflector I'm talking about. I like to have the roof open when weather permits but the wind noise is too much. I've had similar pieces on other cars and they work well. This is a OEM part.

What do you guys think of these two things? Too trashy? Mess up the looks of the car?

Those sunroof bubbles don't look right on any car in my opinion...I say don't get one.
As far as the mud flaps...not sure what they look like for the e60, although I can tell you I bought them and put on my old A33 Maxima thinking the same thing as you, that it would keep the sides of the car cleaner in the rain.....but it actually didn't help at all in that aspect. It did improve the looks though.
