250 for aftermarket tail light
200 for cable

Totally 450.
Is it worth ?

I go for OEM.

Okay, I am chiming in from a neutral stand point, as I have LCI myself. I think that for paying half the cost of a LCI install, it's definitely a better look than pre-LCI. Of course, I imagine that if money is no objection to everyone, most would get LCI. But in the meantime, this is a legitimate option, so let's stop with the bashing.

So far I have had only one person pay the deposit. The list of interested parties will be made up by people who actually pay the deposit.

The price of these lights in Europe is still quite high. I bought them for 260 EUROS inc p&p from http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160385281396&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ%3a%44E:1123
The p&p for these kits is ?25 because I only use DHL Express which means you will have the goods in 3-4 days from the time I ship it. Ofcourse if you pool up together then shipping is a lot less combined. Its only ?5 for every aditional kit enclosed in the courier package.

For people who are worried that I will drastically reduce the price shortly, fear not. I think if anything if these will go up a lot simply because for the first batch I am part funding these set myself as part of the trial. I did something similar with the V6 where the cost of the V6 when it was released as a trial was ?155 for the first 20 people and then went to ?250 for everyone else. The only reason the V6s were so drastically reduced in Dec was because of an unforeseen problem where a large order was placed and then cancelled, I needed to get out of that because of the amount of money tied up. I've grown wiser from that experience and hence asking for the deposit to confirm interest.

There is a couple of oem lights only for about $300 400 used on eBay then u need a Bruce resistor kit or whatever for $200 or so
Please don't shoot me for continuing this discussion of OEM vs Replicas, but I was curious about OEM lights being available on ebay for $300 - $400. So, I just checked ebay. I searched all active listings and the lowest price I could find was $540 for a used pair and $185 for one used RH light. Prices include shipping.

Then I checked completed listings back to to Jan 5, the only actual LCI sale was for one tail light, which went for $337.20, which equates to $674.40 for a pair.

Congrats to anyone who found a used pair shipped to them for $300. I was starting to feel pretty bummed that I have a set of the replicas mounted on my car, and once I get Bruce's cables, will have $540 into them, when for a $100 more I could have had OEM. But, that deal doesn't seem to be out there today.

I am not bashing either one, as both are a definite improvement over the pre-LCI tail lights.

I can only hope we can get 10 people to sign up for the cables.

I just figure I am not in the habit of pissing $$$ away. Sure OEM LCI are very nice and, well, OEM. But over $1k for friggin taillights? If you want that feel free - your $$ your car, I however realize the facts - ALL cars depreciate, even ours. Do you really think the next buyer gives a flying (bleep) that you spent $1K and I didn't? LOL if so you are sadly mistaken. I prefer mods that are reasonable and make my car look a little more unique than everyone else's and these accomplish that. True LCI are very nice, but aren't you really just trying to make your car look newer than it really is?

I've never sold the V6 cables for 250 dollars, its 250 pounds.

That said the demand for cables for these lights seems to be low. I had a lot of expressed interest but no one seems to be forthcoming with the deposits. I'll give it until the end of the month before deciding how to deal with this.

Bruce, I too am disappointed in forum members that said they would purchase the cables, now when it comes time to paying, everyone is not stepping up. Wonder if we should take this thread to other forums to see if we can stimulate interest?

When looking at the price of these aftermarket tail lights with bruce's cables, you're nearly $500 deep. I know Bruce needs to make his share for doing the R&D on the cables but I'd imagine that had these cables cost $50-$100, you'd have a lot more people interested. Simply put I don't think anyone was expecting the cables to be over $200, and neither did I.

OK if the expectation is that these cables are going to be in the $50-100 price range, then I'll stop now - that's never going to happen. These are not bits of wire that you are buying, these are modules with a shed load of electronics components shoved into them complete with BMW plugs and connectors.
