Also state you car model.
(It meant to be a poll but it seems I'm technologically challenged to do so - Perhaps the admin can help here )

Erm, to do what?

For filling gas shock absorbers, nitrogen generally works best. For breathing, I prefer air.

For filling tires.

I used it for breathing for a little while and I aged more and faster than Rudy as you can see from my avatar.

I don't even know of anywhere in the UK where you can get tires (or tyres) filled with anything other than air. Theoretically, I can see the advantages of using nitrogen (no deterioration of tire inside due to oxygen; greater temperature stability); in practice, I doubt anyone would notice.

BTW - is the frog a side-effect of the gas therapy, or is it your pet?

Nitrogen filling was a popular "add-on" about 5 or 6 years ago in the UK. Technically the humidity-free nitrogen should perform in a more stable manner than compressed air. Indeed it is still used on some Bus and Truck Tyres. The benefits may be noticeable in a formula one car although I doubt it, on the road it is a complete waste of time. Air is already about 79% Nitrogen. There are so many other variables coming into play that to spend money on Nitrogen filling is like having a set of wheel spinners, of no practical benefit but it affords a certain kind of person the opportunity to display their stupidity.

Footnote- I worked in the tyre industry for 12 years.

Nitrogen here. Getting my wheels powdercoated and the shop does it for 'free' (in addition to the outrageous price they charge for the PC'ing ). I never would have paid for it, but free is free.

I just bought and installed some new tires for my E28 at Costco here in northern California. They now use nitrogen to inflate the tires and then they put a green valve cap on.
