It's funny because the air we breathe (and that in our tires) is 78% nitrogen anyway...the rest is mainly oxygen. I can't see why it would make much difference with the tires.

filling your tyres with nitrogen, is old hat here in the UK, its recomended for all performance cars due to the fact that it has a much more stable state, not being affected by water, or expanding by tempreture.
its also recomended for high end cars running magnesium alloys as with air, the water content can damage the rims (mosture)
the cost is negligable..here its ?2.50 per tyre.
my skyline and land rover defender both run with nitrogen

+1...you pay big premium just to get the additional 22%(or less) really doesn't make financial sense to me...
its the "mix" that is bad for your alloys and 22% loss or performance drop is vast...
in the US where you guys run chrome wheels, they would rust out a lot quicker filled with normal "air"
soon all tyre bays will be using nitrogen.....much better....try it.

Several of the larger tire distributors here already use Nitrogen. At Costco, Nitrogen is all they use. The atoms of Nitrogen are larger then Oxygen so there is less of a chance to "leak" out. I have had Nitrogen in Corvette and the Volvo for several years, no change in perfromance, just never have to add air.

half of it escapes??
there is something wrong with your wheels/tyres my friend.
and most high performance car owners i know use nitrogen, not just for race cars, its for anybody that values there alloys.

2 things:
Half of it escapes if you have RF's every other week...
Does it really make that much difference on road cars? I thought it was only beneficial for race cars

as i mentioned the main difference is that you don't visit the air pumps, before
i had to top up with "air" every 2 weeks.
