I ordered my wood part two weeks ago and it still isn't in at the dealer. The partsguy told me it has to come from the factory since it isn't available from the spare parts department..

[/quote]Availability may depend on trim color etc.
Tempting to DIY install... Once I see the piece and its attachment points, I'll decide whether to chicken-out or go for it !!!

Dealer ordered my parts around mid-last month and has no idea where they are. Told me since they're parts on the new 2005 models that their availability isn't up to par yet. No rush I guess though.
DIY is easy. I already took the area apart myself to see if I could. There is no screw to remove in the hazard lights area. You just need to remove the hazard button and unplug it to completely remove the long trim piece so its not in your way when working to remove the center trim piece.

I am curious if the trim piece can be pulled from the bottom. It is only covered by the middle piece very little. I may try that later.

Well, my dealer told me everything is done and no problems... Installation of the wood on the lower center console was part of it...
As soon as a car with the installed part leaves the factory, those parts HAVE TO BE available... just in case they get damaged and the dealer needs to replace them before delivery...

Kris: When you do the DIY for the wood trim, take pics on removing the trim piece. You know a step by step procedure. I want to feel bad when I see how easy it is when I paid the dealer to do it for me.
