I just talked to Rob at UUC and they have finished the short shift kit for the 545. I'm calling back on Monday to order, and I should get it in a few days.

My car is on it's way to the dealer from the VPC supposedly, so hopefully I'll get the kit in time to have the dealer install it. I had one on my Audi A6 2.7T and it's great - shortens the shift throws and very high quality.

THe waiting is starting to get tough .......

Will the UUC short shifter work in 530i's?

I'll definitely post some pics and reviews when I get the car and have some time to clean it up and drive it. I'm not sure the 545 short shifter will work in the 530 - call UUC motorwerks and ask.

I am getting my 545i next week (its at the VPC this week), what does a Short shifter do to the car? I am not really familiar with the terms..

The UUC short shift kit basically moves the pivot point of the shifter higher, which shortens the throws and slightly increases the shift effort. The shifter components UUC makes are much higher quality than the original BMW parts, so the force increase is minimal, and the shifter action is more precise. It is fairly expensive, over $300 just for the components. If you want more details, go to the UUC website I posted above and check it out.
