Lose the K&N filter and go with AFE CAI.

A remap is where they reprogram you ECU Electronic control Unit(i think that is the right name) it will raise the HP and rev limiter and get rid of speed limiter.

You're OE filter is likely better than the KN filter with regards to flow. Remove the charcoal filter if you must.

No opinions on the Sprintbooster; my car response with a zoom when I mess it to the floor. Spend the money on wheels and exterior mods. Wheels on a car is like jewelry on a woman.

My experience:
1. SprintBooster
2. You don't mention what tranny you have but if you have the Steptronic and bought your 545 used then you can reprogram the shifting profile per the following topic: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=40018. I bought my 04 545 as a CPO and this thread completely changed the sluggish feel of the transmission.
3. 19" MRR GT1 wheels with Toyo T1R tires save 7 lbs/wheel over 18" 124 runflats.
Others have addressed the intake and exhaust options. I've added iridium plugs, intake, exhaust as well but the above items have made the most difference.

SprintBooser - $350 zero HP but gives you the illusion that your car is faster by electronically fooling the DME to make the throttle response faster.
Exhaust - $800-$2000 2-3 HP
If you call a few (2-3) HP in the high end of the RPM gauge" tremendous", I don't know what to tell you. You will not feel a difference on a 330HP car until you add at least 10% (20-30) more HP. A 1% HP increase is nothing, especially for the amount of money you are dishing out. What you notice/feel is the loud exhaust and intake (if you have an intake) and it makes you think the car is actually faster, it is not. I have yet to see before and after dyno runs that claim any different. On another note light weight wheels with produce less unsprung weight which results in both better acceleration and handling.
