Add this rate the e60 will be replaced before the ipod interface is released.
Wasn't there a forum member here who reckoned he had invented a working system (hobi?) anyone know what happened to that ?

The adapter that plugs into the ipod that was scheduled to come out in early July but didn't and not it has been pushed back to Sept. and since it has not been out to the public, hence the NEW.

I believe you may be using the AUX input in your 2007 530D.
BMW has promised (for July ? (sic)) a NEW integrated interface that permits one to access the iPod through iDrive. See http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexperience/Events...rograms/Vodcast
for BMW's discussion of the upcoming interface.
