E, AFAIK insurance companies don't want you to ever get your hands on a check, so depending on each situation, it is possible to never even see it. Due to all the fraud, most companies now issue checks into two names - yours and body shop, yours and your bank's and so forth.

They would want you to get an estimate from one of their shops and then just tell them that you're using your own shop and that they just mail you a check for the repairs. Then get an mtech!

lol well thank God i have usaa then. They also just send me a check. No questions. No problems, ever.
