My Ride: 530i base model
Model Year: 2006
Default New to BMW

Hello gentlemen, I am new here, just traded my Accord v6 for a 2006 530i, I love the car but I wanted a 3 series.
I got a deal on this car that's the reason I got it, I want to individualize it woith some mods, the first thing I want to do is to wrap the roof black or charcoal, the car is titanium silver, I have searched for images of a silver car with black roof but found nothing so your input is appreciated
I also bought a replica of the AC Schnitzer front lip and the trunk spoiler, I thought about the M5 front but in my opinion it looks like the center was the victim of a parking stop.
You guys can give me feedback on this and any other ideas to help a fellow Bimmer owner.

Thx

Thanks! I live in Florida, Ft Lauderdale, I really wanted my first bimmer to be a 3 series but I could not pass up the deal, now I am trying to for this car to grow on me, I don't find it as sporty as a 335i.

Welcome. I don't get it. You wanted a 3 but you bought a 5 and you're not happy with it, but the deal was too good to pass up. If it's not what you wanted, then it wasn't a good deal.

I wanted a Bimmer period but my pref was a 335i, I looked around and they were too much money then I found the 2006 530 with sports package way cheaper with only 60k miles.

I had an '07 335 and as you mentioned, it was very sporty, abeit a little small for me. I bought an '08 550 and although not as sporty, it is much more refined in pretty much every facet. In time you may grow to like it or eventually sell it and get a 3. But if you plan on getting a 3 sometime down the road, keep your 5 as stock as possible. Either way, enjoy your ride.

Hope you enjoy your 530 - it's not a Honda and you'll enjoy the luxury with economy too. And it's not a 3'er either. Maybe not as toss-able but a step up. Also, don't want to rain on your parade but reserve a few extra dollars for repairs and maintenance ... that's another way it differs from a Honda.

That is true, I put 200k on my Accord with no issues other than regular maintenance, I used to do lots of work on bimmers, so I can handle some of the tasks that come up.
It is a very nice car and I want to do some minor exterior mods like I mentioned before, I will keep it for a while.
About fuel economy I think the Honda had the edge on that, used to get about 20/28 mpg on the Accord v6 and I get an average of 18/20 with the 530.

Thanks, I will keep this car for sometime, I guess for my age this is better for me, but I will always be a hot rodder at heart, lol!
