I am about to buy an AC style body kit for my 2008 535i e60 and have some questions.

It is a complete kit (front and rear bumpers and side skirts), plus AC rear trunk spoiler and Hamann rear roof spoiler, all made from polyurethane, painted jet black, includes shipping for $1300. It is from Car King (found on eBay) and from Tiawan (AC Schnitzer knock off). Anyone buy from them?

Second question... I don't see much difference between the AC style and the M Technic style body kits--what's the difference? Anything major? It looks like the AC kits might be lip kits (add to the bottom of exisiting bumper) whereas M Tech is a whole new one-piece bumper. Is this correct?

Third question... Are the authentic AC Schnitzer body kits just lips kits as well?

I do not have PDC so I do not believe the issue others have had with needing extra parts applies (other than needing an extra bumper pad). If I do not get scammed, I'll post pics--$1300 painted and delivered in 2-3 weeks for full kit plus 2 extra spoilers seems like a great deal if it works out. Plus PU is supposed to be better than ABS.

If you give me feedback, I'd be happy to post my results and experience.

Thanks,

Alan

I've dealt with Brad from Carking. You shouldn't get scammed - my parts are from him. Just be aware of a few 'caveats':

1) If you're a perfectionist, E-Bay parts are not for you. There may be some paint blemishes, fit and fitment issues, and the like. I've had my parts for a lil under a year, and bubbles started in spots, which then broke and exposed the white PU underneath. Will have to have them repainted eventually (not to mentioned sanded and fit-corrected if want a perfect look - which I'm starting to).

2) The parts come from Taiwan - expect as many as 3 weeks. Mine were shipped in some pretty shoddy boxes. If it weren't for their bendability, they woulda snapped in shipping.

3) You may consider buying the appropriate adhesives and self-tapping screws for attachment ahead of time. My units were shipped with some structural glue which didn't hold (didn't have a gazillion clamps on hold for a 48 hour pressure set bond).

4) ACS IS an add-on front. You remove the black surrounds from the fog lights, and the lips fits right on. Put double-sided tape in appropriate areas and use self-tapping screws to hold and you're good to go. The M-techs will require front bumper removal.

Good luck! Take pics when you get em!!!

Thanks for the input! I'm not a perfectionist so everything you said sounds fine EXCEPT I am a little concerned about the paint blisters. That would be a pain to correct later. I'm going to go for it and order it today.

I just ordered my car and won't have it until early-mid july so the shipping time should be fine. Adding the AC kit, roof and trunk spoiler, and got the stock 535i sport 18" wheels chromed. Also dealer putting in Dinan Stage 2 software. Jet Black color.

first, as far as i know they dont make acs kits for LCI models. In order to put this kit you have to change the fog lights

second get the unpainted one and paint it since thereis a huge possibility that it will crack during shipping. Just get kit cheap and paint it locally.

For attaching them, use 3M molding tape but before you put them on, use pro bond adhesive promotor to clean and stick 3m. It will stay longer.

Which fog lamps for the ACS front lip? The same ones as in the m-tech kit?

if i were you, if you got a new 08 535, i would definately put the good stuff on and go with the m-tech kit. you already paid alot for your vehicle, might as well go the extra mile.

for sure! I have the ace front lip and plan to upgrade to the mtech soon. As soon as I get the extra funds that's where I'm headed. If u r getting the 08 535i go for the mtech kit u won't regret it. As for me, the acs is nice but its almost time for my upgrade! Also the lines are not perfect as to where the lip forms the mouth. It hangs out a little bit. Then again i would consider myself a perfectionist when it comes to my ride. GL!
