My Ride: Jet Black 530i with some mods
Hi guys... I was hoping someone might be able to chime in and give me some good ideas on reinstalling my new black "530i" trunk emblems on my e60 from Bimmian.. I took off my old emblems a while ago and had the car buffed really well so there is no trace of the old emblems to use as a guide. And the Bimmian emblems come as individual numbers so keeping them level/straight and spacing them properly is going to be challenging... Nothing looks worse than crooked/misaligned emblems.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

Al, if I ever get my set of blacked-out "545i" from Bimmian, this is how I plan on installing it:
- Using a small strip of balsa wood (or similar material, but cleanly cut) align it for the base of the numbers.
- Use a level if necessary. Tape the support piece in place.
- Based on equidistant measurement from the base and right-edge of the trunk, start with the "i".
- Use a 2nd-piece of narrower wood, appropriately sized for the spacing between each number/letter, for spacer.
- Tape the 2nd-support piece in place. Install the "i" character.
- This should get you started with the 1st-character.
- Repeat steps 2-5 for the remaining numbers. Work your way from right to left.

I've rebadged my M5 twice now. Here's what I did:
1. Go to your nearest dealership.
2. Find your model car on the lot.
3. Bring a piece of paper and a pencil.
4. Mark down the distances from top to bottom and side to side and width between each letter. Just use slash marks to identify distances. No need to use numerical values.
5. Align blue painters tape as your circumference on the trunk of your car, where the badge is to be placed (you'll be using this tape as your guide and will be placing your lettering inside the tape).
6. Use a level to make sure the placement of your tape is not lop-sided and even.
7. Use the paper you copied the distances and widths on and mark those edges onto the blue painters tape.
8. Peel backing of lettering
9. Take a hairdryer and heat up the backside of each letter, just prior to mounting.
10. Use the tape as a guide and place your lettering, based on the markings on your tape.
11. Pull tape off and whola! All done!

There are correct measurements and diagrams in pdf format in the EIS or TIS or whatever it's called.
If you can't find one online, call the dealer. They can probably print it out.
Use a level or wood wrapped in painter's tape and level it up on the car and the install.
I used just painter's tape to form the level line and then measured where the edge of each number/letter should be on the tape based on the measurements in the pdf.
