Default Need Front Spring Struts for 550i.

Hi guys,
So I was told by my dealer that my 550i's front left shock absorber is leaking and so they told me I have to get both front spring struts replaced. Can you guys please let me know where I can buy them from, since getting them myself will be cheaper than the dealer. Thanks!
And if there are better non OEM spring struts please let me know about those too!

Btw car is an 08 550i with probably around 15-20k miles.

Sachs are the OEM brand. Personally I'd use those (you need to figure out if you have sport suspension or what) and just replace the 2 front struts and the "upper strut tower bearings".

Talk to ETNav382 or search the classifieds section. I pulled his front springs/struts out a week or two ago. He recently posted an ad where he was willing to sell the parts we pulled out.

I'd like to get brand new struts, especially since I do not live in the states and cannot easily return the parts if they are found faulty.
The dealer is charging me around $1500 for the front strut pair, and so I figured I'd get them from the US.

I am still confused. Some people say shocks, some people say struts, but I've heard that are are not interchangeable and that the 550i can only be fitted with struts. Is that true?

And is this a strut? Because I dont see any spring in it. But it says it fits 550i.
Client Validation

Edit: I think the springs are separate parts (which I think are fine on my car). Also why do I need to replace upper strut tower bearings?
Thanks in advance.

yea i saw that. but lots of people were using those interchangeably, so I was confused whether my car had shocks or struts.
Anyway so all i need is something like http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/s...Standard+Model right? They are calling them shock absorbers not struts however.
