Haven't we all heard the "nice guy" story. However, I'm impressed she was able to determine in a few mins that someone is a "nice guy" . I guess all the bad ones are behind bars.

You should go to 35% on a Jet Black car. 20% on Jet Black is just asking for it. I had 35% Llumar on my Jet Black E39 and never got a ticket when I lived in Cali. I have it on my E60 and still nothing. You should remove it and go to 35%. It's still plenty dark, esp at night.
sorry to hear about your ticket. +1 switch your tint and get 35%. at night, and with my car even being a light color, you could barely see through the windows with 35%.

I would work it out with the tint shop you got the 20% from the first time. Tell them the situation. Ask them if they can peel it for you, can they remount a lighter shade for a better deal than you originally paid. If they say yes, get it inspected, get the court to sign off and then head back to the tint shop to get your new shade put on.

I'm actually surprised so many people go with such dark tint, especially on really dark cars. When people stare at our cars (which is often), I want people to be seeing me as I drive right on by! We don't need to flaunt it, but don't you always find yourself looking into other fancy sports car windows to see who is driving it? I do. We drive such a nice car. Why do you need to be hiding behind such dark tint?? I would understand if it was a cheap honda civic with no taste for modding, but this is a 5 series bimmer. With 35%, you can't see in my Jet Black car at night. During the day, it's perfect.

This is what I would do. Just my 2 cents...

20% is pretty dark. When I first got my car tinted, there was a silver BMW with beige interior at the tint shop with 20% tint and it didn't look that dark so I got 20% all around (except front windshield). But when I picked up the car in the evening, I can barely see outside. I brought my car back the next day and had them strip it and redo it in 35%. I had t pay again but at least they didn't charge me to remove the tint and even gave me a discount on the 2nd installtion. Either way, a costly mistake.

You can. You'll also need either rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover to rub off the glue residue that'll be all over the windows. It's a PITA!
