Can anyone tell me what I will gain or lose by buying the 2008-1 (or better still 2008-2 when it comes out next month) Navigation PRO DVD from BMW (?unknown) versus buying what appears to be essentially the same product direct from NAVTEQ (?216)?

We have a 2007-2 disk in our newly acquired 535d but I would like the most recent disk before we depart for our driving holiday in France in July.

Do the NAVTEQ disks have postcode search, for example?

Hi _Tim_

I do not have any answer about the differences between the navteq and bmw versions, if any, but I live in France and recently bought my first BMW (520i, the little 5...) and the version I have is 2004-1, didnt upgrade yet : I have been travelling a lot (9000 km) and this version is quite good, not that many changes on the road in 4 years.
So upgrading just one version, maybe two, doesnt seem really worth the ?/$/? to me.
YMMV

Can't help with your original question, but can say that I fully agree with glimmerchef. There's no point spending the $$$ on what would essentially be a minor update.

I'm running the 2007-2 dvd, and it's supported me very nicely thank you on a number of major road trips in the last 4 months, including:
