N52 engine replacement
I own a 2007 e60 530i, it comes with the original n52, the one with the magnesium valve cover. Recently the car has been burning oil excessively, so I took it to a shop for testing and it turns out Cylinder 5 is shot. I'm planning on replacing the engine long block with one from the newer versión of the n52, the facelifted version manufactured 2007 onwards. I plan on reusing the 3 stage intake manifold, the PCV since I just replaced it, the magnesium valve cover and all electronics. Basically I just want to replace the block and Cylinder head since everything else is working just fine.
I want to do this because the n52k is easier to find where i live, besides, being a newer engine there is a higher chance of finding a less abused one.Is this actually doable? Or i'm better off looking for an exact same engine replacement.
