Few weeks ago I brought my car in for oil change, and for some reason they couldn't read the service history from my key.
According to the SA they somehow have to reset the software and my car was in the shop overnight.

After I got my car back, I notice it wasn't as responsive as before, especially when I slam on it from a freeway onramp. I wonder if my remap was erased. How can I tell for sure? Isn't there some secret menu that lets you tell which software version you have on the car? I have a 07 525i menu and got it remapped awhile ago.

Also, not sure if this has to do with the software, but there's some weird passenger restraint system failure on some weird occassions. It happened a few times, and it seems to happen everytime the car is already started for awhile and my wife sits in the passenger seat. Then this error light and idrive message comes on. Once the car restarts the message goes away. When my wife sits in the car when it first started this never happened. I wonder if it's some software bugs...

My warranty will be out soon, I am praying everything will be fine... Better get this checked out...

If your car was flashed im pretty sure you would lose your remap, but im sure someone else can tell you for absolute certain.

I think it ultimately depends on what level your electronics were flashed.......ie exactly what they reprogrammed.

Not sure about the remap, but the passenger restraint system failure sounds like the passenger seat sensor. The same thing happend with my 04/545i, it was part of recall I'm not sure if your year car is included in that but there is a thread on this forum giving more spefic info about it. Sorry I couldn't give you more info, If I find it I will let you know.

With a dealer S/W update, I have been told that your re-map is wiped clean. My service department manager told me this when I asked him about it awhile back.

As for the seatbelt restraint issue, I agree with Bklyn545i. There was a similar failure in E39 models, and this has nothing to do with how much the passenger has been farting in your car...

I had the seat airbag sensor replaced in my E39, and told my lovely wife that it was her fault.

The easiest way to tell is to push the tall pedal on the right and see how quickly your car moves! Seriously though, it sounds as if it was erased! Sorry!

Is there a way to tell what software the car is running? I remember seeing someone talking about some hidden menus?
It seems like something has to do with the seat sensor, but normally it's working fine, but toss out error message and it always happened after the car has been running for awhile and my wife hop in...
Bad thing is that it doesn't happen all the time, worry that the dealer can't detect it...

He only has a petrol Dave so its easy from experience to miss a map sometimes eh........especially as petrol maps focus on the flat spot removal and drive-ability rather than pure HP
