I heard, that the speaker connection in the luggage boot is the same as from BMW models from previous years is you have the hifi speaker option, so i can use a mute box from older models to hear my phone over the car speakers, is this correct.

I understand that, but to connect your phone to the speakers you need a mute box, not for the mute but to hear the talking over the car speakers.

I can be done...I did it, using an old connector block, but I did it at the rear of the stereo, it was a nightmare to dismantle, so I'm not gonna post pics now.

Be very careful - the connectors are very stiff and very fragile. I broke the optic connector, whic I thankfully meded with some super-glue - could have costme a mint.

BMW say it cannot be done. true.

It is possible, don't let anybody tell U it won't work.
My dealer just installed it for me. Nokia blue-tooth car-kit.
in combination with optimout mute box for E60.
It is a hell of a job, little to small space behind the radio but,
it sounds perfect, ten times better than the little speaker nokia delivers.

Also is it conected to the idrive?

the nokia kit is independant to the bluetooth kit bmw supply so it can be removed and fittted in your next audi oops car,, they are just as good coneection wise but you dont have the i drive features but for ?75 you cant go wrong , hate to think how much bmw would charge to addthere kit to a car
