i have 20 inch wheels on mine and its pretty amazing on the gas milage, i go to morango casino 100 miles each way w/ half a tank flooring it most of the way and traffic included at some parts, ofcourse if you get an exhaust or anything done like that youre going to like the sound and want to show it off here and there and shit in your gas milage, i did the same thing with my E46 lol but overall get a 530i its a great choice, you have enough power and its great on gas
I've gone though LA and back to OC which is only 50-60 mile round trip and go through more then 1/4 a tank. That's just cruising and maybe light traffic.
exhausts usually let the car breathe better and improves MPG as long as your not driving hard all the time, so i'm planning to get a Magnaflow. I've done some research on K&N drop in filters and will probably just replacing it an OEM filter instead, and going to get new spark plugs and hopefully see better MPG results.

In my M5 with 80% highway and 20% city I get around 16.5 mpg.
If I were to do all highway at about 75--80mph I would get 20mpg,
You dont even want to know what mods I have on my car because they were not put on there to get you gas mileage but to give you pleasure.
I am running
1. Catless headers
2. RPI Section 1 and 2
3. Corsa Section 3
4. AFE cold air intake
5. Evolve Stage 3 tune
6. Sprint Booster (medium remap)
Lets take a step back in time when I was on
1.Stock headers
2 RPI(Section 1,2,3)
3. BMC airfilter
With 80% highway and 20% city, I would get 13mpg.
If you are looking at MPG, look away, the M5 is not for you.
The M5 is one car that loves visiting gas stations and take my word my friend, you will hear the Fuel Reserve gong pretty often in an M5.

Took out the carbon filter! makes a big difference in the throttle response, will be watching the mpgs in the course of the week.
Will let you guys know if I see a difference.

My Ride: 2008 550i sport package
There was an earlier thread here regarding removal of the carbon filter. Some said it made no difference, others thought it made a difference. I doubt it will make a difference in terms of increasing MPG.

My Ride: 06 530i
I have an 06' 530i with RPI air scoop, and 20" miro 111's. I usally get 29-31 mpg on the hwy. When i had my 18" 124's on there i was getting up to 33 mpg. So it does make a diffrence. I thinmk the RPI scoop helped the most in terms of mpg

+1, 535 with a chip/tune would be another great choice. You can get so much more HP with just a simple piggyback

Yep, it's amazing that such a tiny little scoop was such a brilliant idea - I cant believe BMW never thought of it (I'm being sarcastic).
(I've got one on my car and have noticed no difference at all - it still makes me happy to have it).
