hey guys, I just succesfully performed the cic controller upgrade mod on my 04 530i after some trial and error all normal functions of Idrive and all buttons of the CIC controller function the Winkfp update process literally took 9 minutes I was so surprised.
I completely forgot that doing this upgrade might make things get weird with the modmynav. The way the mmn works you have to press and hold the menu button to access the video inputs when in the different video screen pressing the menu button again once will allow you to return to the menu screen. While the CIC controllers menu button does work for normal functionality, pressing and holding the menu button doesn't activate the different video inputs. I discovered a slight work around which is pressing and holding up on the steering wheel will let you cycle through the inputs, unfortunately once I do that I am stuck in a/v mode and pressing menu will not allow me to return back to menu the only way is to reset the ccc entirely or let the car sleep.
I absolutely can't live without the mmv if worse comes to worse and I can't find a solution to my problem I may have to consider going back to the old controller but I'm hoping one of you may have did this mod and had this same issue and can help. Im guessing changing the wiring of the menu buttons may have something to do with this problem but I don't know where to start . any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

try using the nav button. i think with cic controller it acts like the menu button did. at least that's how it is with the xcarlink.

this issue affected BMWs ACM too. What you have is a hybrid now. The man 2nd Gen works on the CIC not the CCC, so I think you are a bit stuck. What you need is the mmn manufacturer to give you a software update that will update the CAN-IDs detected on the controller.

Did your ModMyNav unit come w/ a cheapo looking wired "control panel" like mine? If so, you could always extend the 2 wires on the input select button and put that somewhere convenient, like the ashtray, armrest, etc.
Not the most integrated solution, but at least you get the functionality back.

You should still have normal rear camera functionality, right?

good news guys I got in contact with kris and he sent me really simple directions on how to make my new cic controler work, it turns out they built and option right into the software/firmware to be able to switch back and forth between old idrive controller and new idrive controller by using the little board/keypad and going into the options of the mmn. so everything now works flawlessly
