Hey, I want to mod whats under the hood of my 550i a little. I want to stay N/A, either way I don't think there's a supercharger or anything for the 550i yet. I was wondering what do you know they have for it? I know dinan makes an exhaust system and so do some other companies. I'm talking like intake, ECU/chip upgrade, maybe center pipe. idk, Do you guys know where I can find some parts or any good companies?

I would do no more than what is offerred by Dinan. I assume that Dinan's intake and throttle body will be available soon for the 550i. Dinan is the only company that I would be willing to deal with, in conjunction with BMW, on warranty issues. I also think that Dinan is as realistic as any on its claims. I am yet to see anything persuasive leading me to conclude that there is a modded 545i or 550i that is faster than my unmodded 545i (or grogan545's). You might want to consider this thread. Aso, recent info from Dinan suggests that ECU remapping will be a waste of time on a 545i/550i. I don't have the link right now, but someone else probably will provide it. If you have a Steptronic, then the best thing that you could hope for, IMO, is that Dinan releases a shift program.

I plan to buy what ever Dinan makes, probably a package deal like with the intake, TB and software. The only different part will probably be the exhaust. Anyone else on other parts?

No exhaust is available from the likes of B&B and Dinan. What is available is a muffler. Check the B&B link in my sig. Given what Dinan has said, I mostly don't think that Dinan will be offerring purely ECU software for the 545i/550i. In the past it has done so on occassion indicating that inreased performance is available without an hp/tq increase. I can't remember if this software included a Step shift program. I wouldn't pay much for that software unless it did--and, of course, I had a Step.

I wanted to reply but the comments from the Dinan Design Engineer kinda has me down on all the engine mods. I was going to eventually get a Dinan CAI, throttle body, and remapped ECU but now I'm not so sure. These 4.4/4.8 NA engines are supposely tuned for the best performance out of the factory. So, now the aftermarket tuners don't have much "room" to tweak the engines to produce any more HP. If the OP really wants to see a difference, I say go with a differential (no pun intended).

The D is the play with an SMG or a manual. I might get an SMG next time around, if I get a 5er, just so I could do a significant mod.
