So I have a 525i with the 16" rims. (And frankly, they look a bit small) I almost have my hands on a pair of almost new, Style 123 18" rims and tires.

My questions are these:

Can I just swap them out with little effect on the spedo, other sensors?

Will the 1" higher stance of my non sports package make it look silly?

I've photoshopped them on my car, and I think it could look good, what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom...

Post your photoshop pics.

18" should be okay. I've seen pics of non-sports pac. and it looks fine.

Ski: I can't comment on the speedo & sensors, but in the photo your car looks great. How about a before - with your original rims & an after with your photoshop wizardry?

I think the new rims (photoshopped) make the car look a lot better. JMHO.

First, I don't think there is any calibration required when swapping wheels from the same manufacture or same model. I was under the impression dealers change out wheels all the time (i.e, customer requests different wheel)

Also, the car should look fine without the sport suspension. In fact, the bigger wheels should help lessen the gap. Lowered suspension and bigger wheels don't necessarily go hand in hand.

Ski: Your car looks great either way. IMHO, I like the larger rims - they really "fill in" the front wheel wells in particular. You might want to check with a Tire Rack type company on the larger size affecting speedo & sensors. FYI - I was at the dealers for a service yeaterday, they didn't have any of the rack accessories in inventory.

The overall diameter, if different, should not be enough to affect the teh speedo or sensors. To me, it makes the car look that much better...go for it. Especially if the price is right.
