To All:

My car's performance has continued to improve significantly since I demodded my car. I am convinced that, in my case, my mods hurt performance, and perhaps the learning ability of my car, after my 20.01.00 update. My car is flying high again now. If you are interested, then check out the g-meter testing thread or the straight-line performance thread on the main forum.

Yes.

Ask some (many?) of the folks with E46 M3s, E39 M5s and Z8s. The Z8 issue is especially troublesome because, IIRC, Dinan actually inadvertantly "modified" the body structure of the Z8, but my memory could be failing me ...
was it dinan? I remember some reputable company doing that... but cant remember if it was dinan... they like filed down some part of the Aluminum chassis or somthing like that and made a whole mess just to get parts to fit...

Edit: Here it is... I found it.

I am thinking that sometime modifying your car will eventually lead to worse performance. At least, that is what I have experience. I had the following modification on my car, ECU upgrade(+25hp/45Nm), Eisenmann exhaust(+5hp/7Nm), K&N air filter. I tried 0-60mph run with my friend who has a standard 645ci, and to my surprise this is the following 0-60mph/h test result:

My result-modified 645ci:

1st run: 6.45sec
2nd run: 6.37 sec
3rd run: 6.07 sec

My friend's result-standard 645ci:
1st run: 5.83sec
2nd run: 5.75sec
3rd run: 5.76sec
I can't believe those number BMW has the acceleration times almost the same (by .10sec) compared to a 545.. WAO 645s are very slow and convertibles are even slower no wonder I smoked a 645cic last time ... so not even the 645 coupes are a match to a 5 series?

WOW why are the 645s slower? THought they were lighter and faster than the 545s just like the M6 is to the M5

Only the convertible should be slower. The only real different between the coupes/sedans is a few pounds of extra curb weight for the latter. The way the cars are equipped, including driver weight, can make this difference go away or, of course, become greater.

I think the 645 and 545 are quite similar in terms of accerleration time, I guess driver's weight and the weather condition also have some impact on the performance . The weather condition of my test is 90% humidity and about 98 degrees F. We could probably post better result if the weather is cooler....
