looking good. really nice car.
i also had the same Remus tips for my old 545i. i had the same problem with the hanging and got told that it wasn't possible to get them any higher.
agree with your review of the sound.. i really liked mine. not loud, not droning. but had enough low rumble to unleash more of a V8 sound.
question for you..
fair enough that you prefer the old E39 M5 to the 550i (although close), but what about the 650i compared to the 550i?
i ask this as i had a go of an M6 the other week, and didn't like it as much as my 5.

I had the 6 speed manual. The clutch and shifter were nice but the uneven throttle response made it impossible to be smooth when leaving a light. I also found the seat bolsters to be too confining and had no adjustments. I'd have sore thighs and back (kidney area) in a 2 hour trip. Plus ingess and egress where tough in a tight garage or parking spot.
The 650i handling was very neutral and flat feeling. You definitely sit lower to the cg. It was impressive on a twisty road at 8/10s but when pushed to the limits offered little warning and being so neutral could really kick the tail out, especially in the wet. After almost spinning the car on an onramp in a light rain (DSC full on) I never wanted to drive it in the rain again.
EDIT: The 550i on the other hand, has a slight push in a netural corner and encourages a little throttle to balance the car around the corner. It can still kick the back end out but its not unexpected.
What's interesting is the Remus exhaust gives the 550i a similar growl to the 650i but more refined and without a strange "whirring" noise that I had.
I guess I'm getting "soft" as I age but I re-learned I want more room and comfort with my daily driver / long trip car.
It could also be that I was spoiled by the room and comfort of the M5 that came with its performance and wanted that back.

I did my first mods to the 550i. I also got an express detail and did a mini photo shoot prior to our fall TOD trip.
First the necessary mod. The Conti's did last as long as expected. The rears were near the wear bars. Not good just prior to a 1500 mile trip. I went with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics. They had a balance problem but a 2nd trip to Discount Tire cured that, smooth as silk at 80+. They are quiet and seem to stick quite well. I haven't given them a good handling test yet but the TOD surely will. I'll report back.
Second mod, exhaust. I decided on the Remus but had to purchase it outside our board sponsor (sorry) since I wanted it before the trip. Quads would be cool, but I'd have to get a different diffuser, et all. A lot more total cost and time.
Third mod, a V1 radar detector. I had a cheapie but it was worthless. It hardly picked up a single alert on the last trip when other folk's V1s went off all over the place. Might as well have the best.
I got an express detail so I could spend the weekend watching football. Here is a quicky photo shoot of the car and mods.

I also reside in NC. Can you advise who installed your exhaust system and how much they charged?
