Hello again.

Have any of you replaced the oem microfilters with aftermarket like Bosch or should we stick with oem...price from dealer is roughly 51 dolaars each but through aftermarket the two bosch filters are 55 dollars total. Is it really worth the price tag for the oem. Just wondering as I dont really like to pay double for anything unless necessary

thanks in advance

Don't know what sort of climate you've got out there - it may be stereotypical of me to assume that it's dry and dusty!

If you go aftermarket, go for carbon ones - they will be grey and cost a little more than the paper ones (OEM are carbon).
Otherwise, go for aftermarket. If, when you take the old ones out, they are visibly dirty, then consider decreasing the change interval.

Thanks Mike. It absolutley is very dry and dusty here. The bosch filters are charcoal in fact. Thanks for the info. Wasnt sure if they dont last as long as the oem and thats why the price difference or simply, dealer mark-up. Thanks again for your help.

I bought Bosch ones, but it turned out to be the wrong part.. I took my air compressor, and cleaned the hell out of the filters, put them back in, and noticed a difference in the cabin air.. Try that first.

From a marketing / business standpoint I have always found it extremely stupid for dealerships to charge so much for their parts. Offering 'normal' prices would practically ensure customers kept coming back on a regular basis. Any business should do what they can to retain 'traffic' to their store, kwim? It would mean constant exposure to their latest products (cars), knowledge, & service (if good like mine always is).

Their current pricing actually invites people to shop elsewhere. This just doesn't make any sense ...

Car sales are waaaaay down, especially for the luxury car market. BMW should lower ALL of their car parts to reasonable, logical prices and actually advertise the price difference between their parts compared to Mercedes and Audi. "Although it may be traditional to charge higher prices at a car dealership, we disagree and therefore are ... etc. etc."

I replaced mine several months back and got them here: http://www.bavauto.com/

They are the Carbon type.

I have not replaced mine yet, but this looks like a good source at $22 each. They show another brand as well for about the same price.
