Dear Mr. Presley:
Thank you for visiting the Michelin Web site and sending us your e-mail.
Regarding your message:
"Is your 19 inch PS 2 a directional, or a non-directional tire?"
================================================== ====
We appreciate your interest in Michelin tires. The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
has an asymmetrical tread design..
Tires with asymmetric tread patterns (such as the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2)
must be mounted according to the instructions molded on the sidewall that
designate which sidewall is to be facing out (or in). Once mounted on the
rim, the tire can be installed on either side of the vehicle and rotated in
any fashion.
If you have additional questions, please respond to this email or you may
call us at 1-800-847-3435 between 8:30AM and 6:00PM Eastern Time Monday
through Friday to allow one of our Consumer Relations Representatives to
assist you.

What did I tell you Eddie?

It's great that you got their opinion on rotation although I don't know how much I'll ever rotate side-to-side since I don't think there'd be too much benefit...

If you look at the tread it doesn't lean in a major direction

Tyres with the outside stamp are usually not directional.
AFAIK even tyres that are directional can roll the other way without impact on handling or aquaplaning.

Dear e60 forum friends,
I'm excited about this bit of news for all of us with staggered sets of tires can now rotate our PS 2 tires, and add mileage to the life of these high price sport tires...I purchased the lifetime balancing and rotation package with my new tires at the national, that's a local tire store near my home for $50.00.
I am told that a properly inflated and rotated, (Side to side with staggers), every 6000 miles tire should get at least 10,000 to 15,000 additional miles than a non rotated and properly PSI inflated sport tire...they claim I should get 30,000 to 40,000 miles with these sport tires when rotated, balanced and properly PSI inflated... we will see if this holds true or not, and I will keep my friends here at this e60 forum advised on my actual findings and results.
Sincerely,
R. Eddie Presley

I hope you are able to get the mileage that you were told -- I'm usually not very pessimistic but I don't see how you're going to significantly increase the life of a tire by rotating them the way you plan to.
Think about this example: The rear tires often wear on the inside due to the negative camber of the rear suspension. If you take a symmetric tire and rotate it from one side of the car to the other, the same side of the tire will be "inside" and will continue to wear faster than the outside.
The only way to really do what you want (on a car that has differerent tire sizes front and rear like many of our E60s) would be to use a directional tire and rotate it left to right after remounting it to maintain the same rotational direction.
I wonder if the tire shop was simply trying to sell you the lifetime rotation because that's what they're trained to do?

Good morning Rudy:
Ahhh what you said does make sense, (Thanks), , but I did managed to get the $50.00 Balanced and rotation for 0, after I negotiated my price using another tire store ad ad...We will just wait and see what happens with my PS 2's, if and when I rotate them?...(I am just out to save money without reducing quality we e60 owners are used to!
Have a good day!
Your GA friend,
Eddie Presley
